Because I want everyone to know what a cool friend I have, I posted Sarah's save the date below. Or you can find it on her blog and spend an absurd amount of time there like I do, wondering how she makes her blog so cozy and home-y and humorous at the same time.

Jillian, my thirteen year old sister, told me I should not worry about being a bridesmaid and never a bride (a phrase I didn't know she knew) because she watched a movie on Lifetime about a girl who was "always a bridesmaid and never a bride and ended up having two guys like her and got to choose which one she wanted to marry."

Sounds good to me.

Pointing to the map of our country, John asks, "What does that say?"

I read him the title: "It says, 'United States Map.'"

"No, not that! That!" he continues, pointing in the exact same direction.

I try to clarify. "California?" 

"No, above California!" he insists.

"Oh! That says 'Sacramento,'" I answer.

"Is that the funnest place in America?" he asks me.

"No, not really," I say, wondering why he thinks so.

"Then why does it have a star by it?" he continues.

"Because, John!" Jacob yells. "It's the capital of the United States of America!"

As I glanced over the email, I thought to myself,

So instead of taking lunch orders (today was ham or turkey sandwiches; booooring!),

the highlight of my weekend

was actually not the Super Bowl, even though it is one of my favorite American holidays and I was feeling pretty good after three beers.

The highlight of my weekend was hanging out with seahorses at the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

Three things I learned:
1. Seahorses dance together! Probably to salsa music I think.
2. After they mate (for life!), the males give birth to seahorse babies.
3. Dwarf seahorses are so cute!

one hundred!

Today was the one hundredth day of school! To kick off our celebration, we wrote about what we will look like in one hundred years and drew a picture to illustrate. Here are some winners:

I think the "pole" is a cane.

"This is me when I'm one hundred years old! I will be at the hotel for old people. I'll eat tubacky."

You don't know what "tubacky" is? Don't worry, Robert clarified for me. He said its "that stuff that old people eat," and that Ken, his mom's boyfriend, told him about it. After this explanation, he showed me how old people chew tobacco.

And that explains the little black dot by his face in the picture he drew.

I have a thing about music videos - I love them, but if I like the song a whole lot, I won't watch the video because I like to be able to have my own thoughts about it without picturing the music video. And that's how I feel about this song.
